Description
Long black hair (tied in pony tail), stocky (muscular) build, wears a scowl usually. His alignment is complicated in that in most ways he would be classed as neutral, in that he accepts contracts against both good and evil. He will not, however, accept contracts against poor people (if employed for protection racketeering, for example) due to the simple background that he recalls from his childhood. He will gladly accept contracts against the church and royalty for obvious reasons. Any non-contract work carried out is usually at the expense of one of the latter two groups. There is a dark side to his character when he takes swings to a more evil alignment, often when his thoughts turn to the vengeance he is committed to; if he felt that his current exploits had led him close to Ghurzak, then it is certain that he would drop whatever he is doing to confront the probable culprit. This would be contrary to his usual methods of conducting contracts, which are always handled efficiently and business-like.

Biography
Illegitimate son of a minor noble {Harrion Rethlet III} but unrecognised as such by his father. Loved and cared for by his mother until he was 7 years old. At that time, a passing adventurer raped and murdered her . Morin then looked after by his grandparents, but they never had much time for him. Plague took them when he was 9. Morin was saved in time by a priest, and he was then cared for in a church-led orphanage. He ran away when he was 10 and has lived on the streets ever since. He has picked up a few skills...
[Addendum: You're right to think that you come from Wesland (I thought I'd said that - oversight on my part). I had you placed in a small town called Karoward Arbor, which is in eastern Wesland, about 70 miles form the border with Karubai. Your mother was murdered on the 29th Kanos 831 (present date is 4th Kanos 843, where Kanos corresponds to September, for reference!).
Childhood dreams of dragons (quite often) and his mother told him that he was special, which is why he had the dreams. Once out playing when he fell and knocked his head - unconscious for a few hours. In that time he spoke with a dragon - a golden beast, that also said he was special. Just a dream, but part of the reason he hasn't fallen into complete darkness.
Teenage years, received tutelage from an older thief - Keshiera. Maybe it was just youthful infatuation, or the truth of his heart, but he believed he loved this 'older' woman. She was captured and sentenced to death during a mission where Morin was lookout - it was a trap and not attributable to Morin, but he holds a feeling of guilt for that too. Although not witness to it, Keshiera was executed at the age of 27, when Morin was just 14. At the age of 16 Morin was quite an accomplished thief - he was training a young understudy (Teel) who decided to 'go it alone' one evening. He was badly maimed by a vicious guard dog (lost sight in one eye and several fingers) and could no longer follow the 'trade'.
Morin no longer works with people as such (that way you don't have to suffer pain at their loss) - if he needs additional work doing, he hires from a short list of specialists.
Harrion Rethlet is just a minor noble, especially now that Wesland is not ruled by the king and being of royal blood, however potent or dilute, matters less. He owns most of the farming land around Karoward Arbor and plays up his status (he's a count, obviously) but has little real power. The legal system, as far as it went, at the time of your mother's death was based around a sherrif, two part time deputies and then 'anybody who would help'. That's why the murder was so easily ignored; this is typical of outlying areas of Wesland (the Wild Wesland, indeed!) whereas nearer the major cities, having been (or nearly been) at war for so long there tends to be military presence that looks after law and order.]
When he turned 18, he was a proficient enough thief to return to his ‘home’ and break into Lord Rethlet’s home; his mother’s murder was barely investigated as the perpetrator had left the area and Lord Rethlet clearly felt rather better with the woman gone and his bastard offspring seemingly disappeared. There was little to find. Except the name of the likely culprit: a human called Ghurzak Khan. There was no real evidence other than hearsay but mostly because of the lack of effort applied.
Some subsequent efforts have turned up little except that Ghurzak probably travelled across to Dhurgumlund for the pickings it offered….
